Perfume de gardenia
Tiene tu boca
Belissimos destellos
De luz en tu mirar
Tu risa es una rima
De alegres notas
Se mueven tus cabellos
Cual ondas de la mar
Tu cuerpo es una copia
De venus y siteres
Que envidian las mujeres
Cuando te ven pasar
Y llevas en el alma
La virginal pureza
Por eso es tu belleza
De un mistico candor
Perfume de gardenia
Tiene tu boca
Perfume de gardenia
Perfume del amor

Blue Gardenia
Now
blue I'm alone with you
And
I am oh so blue
She
has tossed us aside
And
like you, gardenia
Once
I was near her heart
After
the teardrops start
Where
are teardrops to hide
I
lived for an hour
What
more can I tell
Love
bloomed like a flower
Then
the petals fell
Blue
gardenia
Thrown
to a passing breeze
But
rest in my book
Of
mem-or-ries
I
lived for an hour
What
more can I tell
Love
bloomed like a flower
Then
the petals fell
Blue
gardenia
Thrown
to a passing breeze
But
rest in my book
Of
mem-or-ries

The Blue Gardenia (2006)
My
only blues piece, "The Blue Gardenia" was written at the request of
pianist John Martin, to whom it is dedicated. The title reflects my love for
the legendary blues singer, Billie Holiday who wore her heart on her sleeve and
a gardenia in her hair. Gardenias also happen to be my most favourite flower.
This recording is from John Martin's Wirripang Cd release "Tunes for
Mademoiselle".
From the liner notes for "Tunes for Mademoiselle" :
"The Blue Gardenia was written for John Martin by master miniaturist Phillip Wilcher and is a beautiful example of a piano blues, representing a slight change of direction for this most romantic of Australian composers. It is simple and uncluttered, displaying Wilcher's great ability to write music free of excess that is always attractive and engaging."

Blue Moon
Billie Holiday
Blue moon
You saw me
standing alone
Without a dream
in my heart
Without a love
of my own
Blue moon
You knew just
what I was there for
You heard me
saying a prayer for
Someone I realy
could care for
And then there
suddenly appeared before me
The only one my
arms will ever hold
I heard somebody
whisper, "please adore me"
And when I
looked, the moon had turned to gold
Blue moon
Now I'm lo
longer alone
Without a dream
in my heart
Without a love
of my own

Blue
Gardênia
Flor da recordação
Traz ao meu coração
Lembranças do amor primeiro
Gardênia pétalas já sem cor
Sombras de um grande amor
Que o passado levou
Teu perfume vagou
Tão pouco vagou
Nem brindou, se afogou, quem me abandou
Blue Gardênia
Flor da recordação que se desfolhou
No coração
I lived for an
hour
What more can I
tell
Love bloomed
like a flower
Then the petals
fell
Blue Gardênia
Flor da recordação
Que se desfolhou no coração
